We adore the duvet cover sets that are made by artisans in Portugal as well as the decorative pillows and throws sewn from responsibly sourced fabrics. We’ve outfitted our own beds with Parachute’s linens and throws, and couldn’t be happier with how function meets form for an effortless look. Parachute gives back through a partnership with the United Nations Foundation and a mentorship program to Black entrepreneurs.

Committed to long-term and ethical support for their global community of makers, founder Treana Peake meets each artisan face-to-face in their place of origin, forging meaningful relationships and supporting slow design that honors traditional artistry. Through their philanthropic arm The Obakki Foundation, the brand has provided clean drinking water to four million people. Their commitment to ethical partnership with their artisans includes fair wages paid on time and often up front, at prices set by the makers themselves. We haven’t made the splurge yet, but were eyeing their handmade pottery collection for dining room decor.

We are big fans of The Citizenry. The company set out to celebrate the people behind its products, and the name is a reflection of just that: the collective of individuals—artisans, designers, and dreamers—who rally together across cultures and continents to craft the collections. Each item is handcrafted, hand-numbered, and available only in limited quantities to ensure it’s as extraordinary as the culture that inspired it. Our founder swears by the alpaca throws as the perfect piece to toss on a chair, couch, or bed to make it look finished and it’s quick, easy snuggling when the weather turns cool.

To date, more than $200M has been invested in artisan communities and local craftspeople, and more than 50 percent of its wood furniture is sustainably sourced.

From curtains and coasters to towels and table linens, Bolé reuses and recolors traditional Ethiopian motifs to give them a modern touch. The pieces are handwoven in Ethiopian studios that are owned and operated by women entrepreneurs paid fair wages, and the yarn is made from locally sourced cotton that is hand-processed from harvesting to spinning.
