Parachute‘s homewares are manufactured by artisans who’ve been doing this work for over 80 years. By collaborating with expert craftspeople, Parachute is able to deliver premium textiles that uphold the high standards and heritage of that region. We adore the duvet cover sets that are made by artisans in Portugal as well as the decorative pillows and throws sewn from responsibly sourced fabrics. We’ve outfitted our own beds with Parachute’s linens and throws, and couldn’t be happier with how function meets form for an effortless look. Parachute gives back through a partnership with the United Nations Foundation and a mentorship program to Black entrepreneurs.

Canadian lifestyle brand Obakki is a purpose-led platform that partners with international artisans for small batch, high-quality, sustainable designs. Committed to long-term and ethical support for their global community of makers, founder Treana Peake meets each artisan face-to-face in their place of origin, forging meaningful relationships and supporting slow design that honors traditional artistry. Through their philanthropic arm The Obakki Foundation, the brand has provided clean drinking water to four million people. Their commitment to ethical partnership with their artisans includes fair wages paid on time and often up front, at prices set by the makers themselves. We haven’t made the splurge yet, but were eyeing their handmade pottery collection for dining room decor.

Each piece of houseware and decor, created by independent small-scale artisan groups, co-ops, and workshops, is crafted with love using locally sourced materials and time-honored skills.

Each curated item is ethically made and vetted by the in-house sustainability team. All GOODEE partners are transparent about their labor standards, supply chain, ecological footprint, and materials used.

We are big fans of The Citizenry. The company set out to celebrate the people behind its products, and the name is a reflection of just that: the collective of individuals—artisans, designers, and dreamers—who rally together across cultures and continents to craft the collections. Each item is handcrafted, hand-numbered, and available only in limited quantities to ensure it’s as extraordinary as the culture that inspired it. Our founder swears by the alpaca throws as the perfect piece to toss on a chair, couch, or bed to make it look finished and it’s quick, easy snuggling when the weather turns cool.

West Elm is one of our favorite go-to’s for stylish home design and decor. The company believes in making sustainable products while being mindful of its impact on every level. It has committed to sourcing pieces that are handcrafted, Fair Trade Certified, organic, sustainably sourced, and/or local. To date, more than $200M has been invested in artisan communities and local craftspeople, and more than 50 percent of its wood furniture is sustainably sourced.


11. Bolé Road Textiles

Born in Ethiopia and raised in Montreal and New York, designer Hana Getachew founded Bolé Road Textiles because she wanted to blend her love of interior design and Ethiopian handwoven fabrics. From curtains and coasters to towels and table linens, Bolé reuses and recolors traditional Ethiopian motifs to give them a modern touch. The pieces are handwoven in Ethiopian studios that are owned and operated by women entrepreneurs paid fair wages, and the yarn is made from locally sourced cotton that is hand-processed from harvesting to spinning.
